Received a DOT drug or alcohol violation?

We help you understand and complete the SAP portion of the DOT return-to-duty process — clearly, confidentially, and without judgment.

You can contact a SAP yourself. You do not need your employer's permission, and you can start even if you no longer work for the employer where the violation occurred.
Your questions

Answers, in plain language

If something here doesn't fit your situation, call us. The first conversation costs nothing and is confidential.

What is a SAP?

A Substance Abuse Professional is a licensed or certified professional, qualified under 49 CFR 40.281, who evaluates employees who have violated DOT drug and alcohol regulations and recommends the education or treatment they need before returning to safety-sensitive duty.

Do I need a SAP?

If you tested positive, refused a test, or otherwise violated DOT drug and alcohol rules while in a safety-sensitive role, then yes. The requirement follows you, not your job — you must complete the SAP process before performing safety-sensitive work for any DOT-regulated employer.

How much does it cost?

Our complete package is $600, and you can also pay per visit or use a payment plan. Full details are on our pricing page.

How soon can I get an appointment?

Call us and we'll give you the soonest available time. Getting you seen quickly is the part of the timeline we control, and we treat it that way.

Can I complete my evaluation virtually?

In many cases, yes. DOT permits SAP evaluations by real-time audio and video when regulatory and credential requirements are met. We provide telehealth across all seven states where we hold an active clinical license. You must be physically located in one of those states during your telehealth visit.

What happens after my first evaluation?

You receive an individualized recommendation for education, treatment, or both, along with referrals. You complete it, then return to us for the follow-up evaluation.

What do I need to bring?

Photo ID, your employer's violation or removal notice, your DER's contact details, and any prior treatment records. For telehealth, a private room and a device with a camera.

How long does the process take?

It depends on the education or treatment recommended for you and how quickly you complete it, so we can't give an estimate before your evaluation. We schedule promptly and keep our side moving.

What happens in the Clearinghouse?

For FMCSA-regulated drivers, your SAP records the initial assessment date and, after successful compliance, your eligibility for a return-to-duty test. Your prohibited status ends only after the return-to-duty test is completed and reported by your employer.
