Reliable SAP support for employers and DERs

NSURO works with employers and designated employer representatives to support the DOT return-to-duty process while maintaining the SAP's required professional independence.

  1. 01

    You refer

Send the employee to us, or give them our details. We confirm we can serve their state and schedule them.

  2. 02

    We evaluate

A face-to-face clinical evaluation, in person or by secure video, followed by an individualized education or treatment recommendation.

  3. 03

    We report

Your DER receives the written reports Part 40 requires — the initial recommendation and, later, the compliance determination.

  4. 04

    You act

Once we report successful compliance, the employer's own return-to-duty responsibilities begin, including the directly observed test.

  5. 05

    Follow-up plan

You receive a written follow-up testing plan — at least six directly observed tests in the first 12 months, within a plan of up to five years.

Where the line sits

What the SAP does, and what remains yours

The SAP evaluates the employee, recommends education or treatment, determines whether the employee has successfully complied, and provides the required reports and the follow-up testing plan.

The employer decides whether to return the employee to duty, arranges the directly observed return-to-duty test, and administers the follow-up testing plan. We don't make employment decisions, and we don't clear anyone for duty.
